Knowledge and Imagination (written in English)

Now I live in a small city named San Marcos in Nicaragua.

Im taking Spanish language course every day and as one of the course works, students visit various places in the city such as municipal office, police office, public park and so on and interview people there.

Yesterday, I interviewed the mayor of this city and people hanging around in a public park. Today, I interviewed a manager in a police office.

I'll write about the detail of the interview in other opportunity but this time, i want to write about what I thought generally from this activity.

When I finished this activity, I realized that I had done this kind of activity before: in an elementary school.

In elementary school, there was an activity called "Society Observation" and visited various places around the city to know what was actually going on in the city.

But at that time, it was just a mandatory activity of the class and did not feel anything.

But this time, the visit was really really interesting.

When I was talking to the mayor, I asked numerous questions about the situation of the city and proposed various possibilities of cooperation in the future.

When I was talking to random people in the park, i asked about the situation of the city and what they think about it.

The manager of the police office told about the situation of crime in this city.

These visits gave me lots of ideas about what is going on in the city and possible solutions to meet problems.

What is the difference between two visits: visit when I was in an elementary school and the visit yesterday?

My attitude and the knowledge that I have. That's it.

What I want to say here is that the same thing could have completely different meaning for a person depending on what he has as knowledge and attitude.

Knowledge could be the source of imagination.

If I had not had the knowledge about economy and public administration yesterday, my visit could have ended up being a boring visit.

The more I learn, the more creative I can be.

That's why I like studying. Studying in a broad sense: reading books, travelling, meeting interesting people and etc etc...

All depends on what I learn and how I think.
