GLOCAL

There is a word "GLOCAL."

"Think globally and act locally" this is what this word means.

Recently, I really feel the importance of this notion. Global factors and local factors affect mutually with each other and nothing can be thought separately from other factors.

Most of our food or materials that we use in our daily lives come from foreign countries. One phenomenon in Africa could easily affect the lives of japanese. (global aspect)

On the other hand, the importance of face to face communication is getting larger and larger in this internet based communication age. Real communication never ends (local aspect)

Rather than "think globally and act locally," I would like to say

"Think globally and locally, Act globally and locally"

Internet enabled us to act globally. We can communicate no matter where we are thanks to email. We can even have on-line meeting for free thanks to Skype.

Also, it is important to think about the significance of local matters. After all, the world is a gathering of locality.

So, "think locally and globally, act locally and globally," this is the real "GLOCAL" for me.
