How to Survive (English)

Having a strong conviction and passion is always recommended or praised.

At least in Japanese culture, it is.

But recently, Im feeling in a different way.

Almost an year ago, I quit my company and started travelling and working abroad.
At that time, I had a strong conviction and passion about what I wanted to do in the future.

But sometimes, it restricts the possibility of having a broad and extended viewpoint.
Consequently, I miss better opportunities.

Strong conviction and passion sometimes reduce the flexibility, which is really important in our age in which the speed of change is faster the before.

Especially if my goal is really really high and idealistic, I cannot be satisfied of what I have in a present moment and end up complaining about the current moment.

Of course, it is important to aim high. But also, it is important to be flexible and enjoy "NOW."

We are not living for the future. We are living "NOW."

To enjoy our daily lives, it is important to try to accept what is around us by being flexible, putting aside our strong conviction and passion.

Charles Darwin said

"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change."

I believe this also applies to us.
