Globalization seen from Discos!! (English)

I love dancing and whenever I travel abroad, I go to discos (clubs).

So far, I have visited discos in Japan, Thailand, Laos, The US, Canada, France, The UK, Spain, Morocco, Nicaragua etc etc.

Those countries are regionally different, culturally different and religiously different.

This morning, I was talking to my friend and realized an interest thing.

The thing is that the discos I have visited in those countries are putting the same kind of music, maybe music from American Disco Hits Charts.

Regionally, culturally, religiously different people are listening to the same kind of music and enjoying it.

This has never occurred in our history, I think.

Some people may criticize this phenomenon as an americanization or standardization of culture, pointing out that those are eroding the local and traditional culture.

I partly agree with this idea. It is just sad to see the local and traditional culture decaying.
It is surely important to make an effort to preserve those.

However, as I argued the other day (in Japanese....), the fact that one phenomenon has a negative aspect does not necessarily mean that the phenomenon itself is a bad thing.

Nowadays, people are enjoying listening to the same music around the world.
In other words, now people have same means through which they can share joys and pleasure.

Isn't that a really positive thing?

They have a shared hobby.

The other day, I wrote that "number" could be the shared language but maybe the disco culture could be shared language too.

Globalization brings us some negative aspects as is always condemned. But at the same time, it brings us shared values and ideas. Now we have possibility to share sympathy and passion with people all around the world.

Everything has both negative and positive aspects. What's important is to focus on the positive side and make the most of it, i believe.

The reason why I like my friend who I talked to this morning is that she always focuses on the positive side of things.
