Only with good intentions, we realize that "the road to hell is paved with good intentions"

There's a proverb says "the road to hell is paved with good intentions."

Especially as I major in development studies, I realize that there are thousands of cases in which good intentions paved the road to hell.

Aid creating aid dependency, constructing roads and bridges destroying environment, promoting gender equality provoking conflicts, empowerment project bringing about disempowerment, etc etc........

So, we don't need good intentions?

I believe, only with good intentions, we can realize that "the road to hell is paved with good intentions."

Without good intentions, we cannot even realize it.

Good intention is not enough to make the world a better place. My good intention might be just a nosy opinion for others.

But, good intention is definitely a prerequisite for a better world.

You should never abandon good intentions if you want to work for a better world.
